Bangalore’s Music Run 2016 review: fitness never sounded so good!

Bangalore’s Music Run 2016 review

A new generation of Indians are waking up to the benefits of fitness and well-being, and this is true especially in Bengaluru where you can find walkers, joggers and runners making tracks around the city. And the Music Run, held on September 10th, brought together more than 7,000 music aficionados and fitness enthusiasts, who ran, danced and partied to the beat and tunes of their favourite songs.

The Music Run, held in India for the very first time, started as a one-off event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2014, and has spread to 40 cities in more than 18 countries since. The 5K Bengaluru edition was held at Clarks Exotica Resort and Spa near the International Airport in the city.

From start to end, the run was filled with endless music-inspired entertainment. More than 120 state-of-the-art speakers pumped out songs across 5 different music zones- hip-hop, pop, rock, old school and dance, with each genre occupying a kilometer of the run. The soundtrack consisted of music entirely decided by the participants themselves, who had voted beforehand for their favourite songs via an app.

The event began with a gig by Bengaluru rock band ‘All The Fat Children’, followed by a zumba session that had the crowd asking for more action. A sound wave marked the beginning of run, and the pumped-up crowd took off, making their way across the music zones, with tunes at every step and their friends for company. The euphoric mood continued afterwards, with live bands and DJs keeping energy levels high.

Bengaluru plays host to several marathons held throughout the year, but the Music Run is the only one of its kind, being non-competitive as well as having the novel concept of blending crowd-sourced music and running. And thanks to the positive response, the coming years will see the event being held in other cities in India as well.

More information can be found on their website and you can also check out pictures from the event on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
