It’s no secret that Indians are just as religious for movies as they are with cricket, and it’s this enthusiasm that has propelled the Indian film industry to become one of the biggest in the world. What started with Raja Harishchandra in 1913 has become a melting pot of influences and expressions, with new techniques, expressions and stories emerging year after year.

So, if you are an aspiring filmmaker and have a fiction or non-fiction film to show to the world, here is our small list of Indian film festivals that you can submit your film to.

4th Noida International Film Festival

The Noida International film festival, previously known as Miniboxoffice International film festival, which previously catered only to short films has widened their lenses to include feature length films now.

7th Gujarat International Short Film Festival
Festival date: June 23 – 25, 2017

This is year seven for this short film festival which has been organised by the Academy of Cultural Activities and Art Institute, a voluntary and non-commercial organisation that believes in protecting and propagating arts of all kinds. This year GISFF is collaborating with Dream Kreator Digital studio as well. As the name suggests, GISFF specifically focuses on short fiction and non-fiction of all genres.

7th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival

The Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival is a not-to-profit, non-commercial, independent film festival. It aims to celebrate the cinema of aspiring, independent and professional filmmakers. This festival is well known in the filmmakers’ circuit because it is organised each year on the birth anniversary of Dada Saheb Phalke.

NEZ International Film Festival
Festival date: September 15 – 17, 2017

NIFF is a platform that believes in collective growth. They also believe that arts are a reflection of individuals stemming from various backgrounds and aim to provide these people with a platform to express their views through visual means. They have categories of features and short films, documentaries and ad films. This year they have announced the smart phone cinema and NIFF Greens categories.
