Women’s luxury accessories at drop-down prices? Here’s how.

Expensive just got pocket-friendly.

Confidential Couture, an online portal that dabbles in pre-owned luxury goods, has introduced recycling to the high-end market. Enabling women to obtain ‘must have’ goodies at a fraction of the original (usually outrageous) price – that is the game plan of the portal’s founders, Anvita Mehra and Jharna Gianchandani. All their products pass through a rigorous test to authenticate their pedigreed status; no less than 40 markings or codes are scrutinised by experts per item, before they’re declared original.

There’s a gamut of stuff to choose from, including bags, shoes, sunglasses, and more. To make the selection easier, accessories are divided into three categories: never been used, gently used and fairly used. While it’s a great platform for buyers to land themselves a bargain, sellers stand to gain too, by offloading luxury items that are either unused or have outgrown their utility. It’s a win-win situation.

The second-hand luxury goods market caters just as much to the novice looking for their first big purchase, as it does to the connoisseur scouting for limited edition buys. Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Michael Kors, Fendi, Gucci and more are up for grabs, and you don’t have to break the bank to get them. What’s more, if you live in Delhi or Mumbai, you will get a chance to view the intended purchase up close and personal before saying “I do.”

Reselling personal goods no longer has a stigma attached to it. In fact, it could actually be considered good karma; after all, recycling items does help reduce the burden on natural resources. That should bring the guilt factor associated with shopping down several notches!

Confidential Couture envisages a 40-50% increase in sales every month. Clearly, a Birkin even if it changes hands…remains a priceless Birkin.
